The D’Tigress, Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, have been drawn in a challenging group for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifiers. They’ll face off against hosts and European powerhouses, France, Germany, who are one of the strongest teams in Europe and the World Cup hosts, Asian Contenders Korea, known for their speed and flair, Philippines and South American Representative, Colombia, known for their resilience and energy
The qualifiers will take place from March 11 to 17, 2026, in four host cities: Lyon-Villeurbanne (France), Wuhan (China), San Juan (Puerto Rico), and Istanbul (Türkiye). The top three teams from each tournament will earn their place in Berlin for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

• San Juan, Puerto Rico: New Zealand, Puerto Rico, USA, Senegal, Italy, and Spain
• Istanbul, Türkiye: Hungary, Türkiye, Argentina, Australia, Canada, and Japan
The D’Tigress, four-time African champions, will aim to continue their dominance on the continent and make a strong showing in the qualifiers.
