Minister Uche Nnaji has resigned from his position as Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, effective October 7, 2025. President Bola Tinubu accepted his resignation, thanking him for his service and wishing him well in future endeavors. Nnaji’s resignation comes after allegations of certificate forgery, which he denies, claiming he’s been a target of blackmail by political opponents.
He claimed he had a degree at the University of Nigeria Nsukka but the university disowned Nnaji’s degree certificate, stating he didn’t complete his studies and wasn’t awarded a degree. Investigations revealed inconsistencies in the certificate’s numbering system and suggested Nnaji served for 13 months, contrary to the statutory 12-month program. A federal high court in Abuja dismissed Nnaji’s request to stop UNN from releasing his academic records.

President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023. He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria. Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.
President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours.” Bayo Onanuga, Special Advicer to the President on Information and Strategy confirmed in a statement on Tuesday October 7 2025.
