The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State. The suspects were nabbed in a sting operation on September 29, 2025, at various locations across the city.
The EFCC recovered 11 vehicles and several mobile phones from the suspects, who are believed to be involved in various forms of internet-related fraud. 92 suspected internet fraudsters arrested, 11 vehicles and several mobile devices were recovered.
“EFCC Arrests 92 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Benin-City. Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State. They were arrested in a sting operation on Monday, September 29, 2025, at various locations within Benin City, Edo State.
Their arrest was based on credible intelligence about their suspected involvement in computer-related crimes.” A statement from EFCC on X reads.
Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to internet-related fraud, and they will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The anti-graft agency followed all lawful procedures during the arrest and is committed to prosecuting the suspects.
