Roger Lukaku, the father of Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku, has passed away at the age of 58. Romelu shared a heartfelt tribute to his father on Instagram, expressing his gratitude and pain. He was a former professional footballer who played for several Belgian clubs, including Rupel Boom, KV Oostende, Seraing, Germinal Ekeren, and KV Mechelen.
He earned 11 caps for the Zaire national team, now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo. Romelu Lukaku posted a photo of himself as a young boy with his father, captioning it: “Thank you for teaching me everything I know. I’m forever grateful and appreciate you.
Life will never be the same.”
Several football personalities, including Jeremy Doku, Rio Ferdinand, and Dedryck Boyata, have offered condolences to the Lukaku family.
Romelu Lukaku is currently injured and was set to return in late November or early December after being ruled out for several months. He shared the news of his father’s passing after Napoli’s 2-1 defeat to Milan in San Siro.
