Graham Potter has been sacked by West Ham United as the team’s head coach, just five games into the Premier League season.
The decision comes after a dismal start, with the team winning only one game and losing four, resulting in a 19th-place ranking.
The club cited “results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season” as not meeting expectations, leading to the decision to part ways with Potter.
Nuno Espírito Santo, former Nottingham Forest manager, is expected to take over as the new head coach, potentially ahead of Monday’s match against Everton.
During his nine-month tenure, Potter won six out of 25 games, with West Ham finishing 14th in the league last season. This season, the team has secured only three points from five league matches. The fans had grown increasingly restless, chanting “you don’t know what you’re doing” during the recent match against Crystal Palace, which ended in a 2-1 loss for West Ham.
A fan advisory board had also issued a “vote of no confidence” in the club’s direction, prompting the owners to reassure the fanbase.
