Olorogun Oskar Ibru, the billionaire businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has passed away at 67. He died after a brief illness, according to his family. Dele Momodu also confirmed the News via a post on his Instagram page that read:

“News has just reached me in the skies that one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, OLORUNGUN OSKAR IBRU, has passed on… He was an extremely friendly gentleman, and a socialite per excellence, who was loved so passionately by families and friends… He was the son of the business Titan, OLOROGUN MICHAEL IBRU… Rest in peace, dear Brother…”
Ibru played a key role in sustaining and expanding the conglomerate founded by his father, Michael Ibru, which spans shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.
He was the eldest son of Michael Ibru, the founder of the Ibru Organisation, and leaves behind a wife, Wanda Ibru, and three children: Makashe Ibru-Awogboro, Chris Ibru, and Nenesi Ibru-Okeke.
Ibru became General Manager and later Managing Director of the Ibru Organisation in 1992, overseeing various subsidiaries and sectors.
He was the Chairman of the Dream Child Foundation, an NGO that empowers African children through music and cultural initiatives. Ibru also received an honorary doctorate from Igbinedion University in 2017 and held traditional titles, including Otunba Boyejo of Ijebu Kingdom.
Business leaders, politicians, and cultural figures have paid tribute to him, describing him as a visionary industrialist and friendly gentleman.
