SPORTS: GARNACHO RECEIVES BRUTAL CHANTS FROM MAN UTD FANS ON OLD TRAFFORD RETURN.

Manchester United fans came up with a brutal chant for Alejandro Garnacho on his return to Old Trafford with Chelsea. The chant, which was directed at the Argentine winger, was a repurposed version of one once used against Carlos Tevez after his move to Manchester City.

The lyrics went like this: “Who’s that twat from Argentina? Who’s that money-grabbing w**? Garnacho is his name and he hasn’t got a brain and he won’t be winning trophies anymore!”

The hostile reception from the fans was likely due to Garnacho’s decision to leave Manchester United for Chelsea in the summer transfer window, a move that was reportedly worth £40 million.

Garnacho didn’t play in the match against Manchester United, remaining an unused substitute, but the chant set the tone for his return to his former club. The chant reflected the bitterness and sense of betrayal felt by Manchester United fans, who saw Garnacho’s departure as a disloyal move driven by financial gain.
Despite the hostile atmosphere, Garnacho maintained a composed demeanor, focusing on his warm-up routine.
Chelsea lost the match 2-1 to Manchester United, with Robert Sanchez being sent off in the fifth minute for a reckless tackle on Bryan Mbeumo. Garnacho was left on the bench by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca who opted to send on Malo Gusto and Academy Graduate Tyrique George in the second half after making three bizarre changes in the early minutes of first half which includes Cole Palmer coming off for Brazil’s Andrey Santos.

Garnacho joined Manchester United academy from Atletico Madrid in 2021. He won the 2021/22 FA youth cup with the U18s and made his debut for the club in their 1 – 1 draw against Chelsea April 2022.

Garnacho would go on to score 26 goals in 144 appearances for the Red Devils winning both the FA cup and English Football League Cup. He also won the Jimmy Murphy young player of the year trophy at the end of the 2021/22 season. His notable highlight in a Red jersey was the overhead kick against Everton on November 26, 2023, the strike which won The FIFA Puskas Award for 2024.
