NEWS: NARD SUSPENDS STRIKE GIVES FG TWO WEEKS ULTIMATUM.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its five-day warning strike, effective 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, after just two days of industrial action.

The strike was called off to give the Federal Government an additional two-week ultimatum to meet the doctors’ demands.

NARD President, Dr. Tope Osundara, stated that the decision to suspend the strike was made as a gesture of goodwill to ease the burden on Nigerians seeking healthcare, considering the current economic challenges. The association has urged the Federal Government to utilize this two-week window to fulfill its promises.

“Some of our demands have been met. The government has promised to look into other issues. Strike suspended; resumption of work tomorrow (today).

We did this as a sign of goodwill and to assist Nigerians who are seeking healthcare in our various facilities.” He said via a Whatsapp message on Saturday September 13.

In addition, NARD has called on the Oyo State Government to address unresolved issues at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital within 15 days, warning of an indefinite solidarity strike if demands are not met. The association remains committed to working with all levels of government to ensure better healthcare for Nigerians.
