NEWS: HILDA BACI COMPLETES LARGEST POT OF JOLLOF RICE, AWAITS GUINNESS VERDICT.

Hilda Baci has successfully completed her Guinness World Record attempt for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice. Baci cooked about 200 bags of rice in a massive 22,619-litre pot, measuring six meters wide and six meters tall, in approximately nine hours at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

The “Gino World Jollof Festival” drew tens of thousands of spectators, including fans, food vendors, entertainers, and notable figures like Funke Akindele and Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan.

Over 30,000 people were served the meal in takeaway packs, with attendees encouraged to bring coolers to collect excess food.

The Federal Government commended Baci’s effort, describing it as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence.” Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, praised her dedication to excellence and pledged support for similar initiatives.

Baci is now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records. Her attempt was acknowledged in real-time by GWR, which posted a video of the event on X (formerly Twitter) wishing her good luck.

Hilda Baci previously set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon with a 93-hour effort in 2023. This latest challenge showcases Nigerian cuisine and culture, highlighting jollof rice as a symbol of national pride and friendly rivalry with Ghana.
