ENTERTAINMENT: I SPENT MY FIRST LAGOS NIGHT IN A POLICE STATION – FOLA.

Fola, a rising Afrobeats star, had a rough introduction to Lagos when he relocated in 2018 to pursue his music career. He was arrested on his first day in the city and spent the night at a police station. The Dagbana Republik signee made this known in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM Lagos.

The experience was demoralizing, and Fola almost gave up on his dreams. However, his resilience and determination helped him adapt to Lagos’ fast-paced lifestyle.

Fola’s first night in Lagos was spent in a police cell, an experience he doesn’t want to remember.
“I relocated to Lagos in 2018 to pursue my music career. It has been rough but… I wasn’t born here, so it was so hard at first but I have adapted to both the living conditions and the hustle.

The very first day I came to Lagos, I assumed arrested. I slept at the police station. It was a long story. I don’t want to remember it. I almost gave up,” Fola recalled.

Despite the setback, Fola’s talent earned him a spot with Bella Shmurda’s record label, Dagbana Republik, in October 2024. His breakout single “Alone” put him on the map, followed by collaborations with top Afrobeats artists like Wizkid and Kizz Daniel.
