David Favour, the husband of the late Shimite Winifred Love, a special adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has vehemently denied allegations of domestic violence linked to her death.
According to Favour, an autopsy and toxicology report cleared him of any wrongdoing, attributing Love’s death to acute left ventricular failure, hypertensive heart disease, and aspiration pneumonitis.
Favour insists that he didn’t kill his wife and commended the Delta State Police Command for their professionalism in handling the case.
“I didn’t kill my wife. The justice system of Nigeria should not be compromised. Government entities, families, and law enforcement must respect the laws of marriage acts,” Favour said.
The autopsy, signed by consultant anatomic pathologist Michael Emeka Chiemeka on May 22, 2025, supports Favour’s claim that Love’s death was due to heart-related complications.
Favour alleges that Love’s family members, including her stepbrother, were involved in divisions within their family and even conducted Love’s burial without his consent.
Favour claims Love’s family members have threatened his life, and he was placed in protective custody by the police for his safety.
The police are still investigating Love’s death, with the family accusing Favour of foul play.
The circumstances surrounding Love’s death have sparked controversy, with some reports suggesting domestic violence.
However, the police spokesperson in Delta State, Bright Edafe, described these allegations as “social media propaganda” and emphasized the need for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
