A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has ordered a DNA test to determine the paternity of Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of late Nigerian singer Mohbad.
The court’s decision was made on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, following an application filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba.
Two DNA tests will be conducted, one in Nigeria and another in a recognized and accredited hospital outside Nigeria.
The Chief Medical Officer or Pathologist at the Military Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, will extract tissue, hair, or other necessary samples for the test from Mohbad’s remains.
Both parties or their representatives must be present when the samples are taken.
The case has been adjourned to November 11, 2025.

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, filed the application seeking to conclusively establish whether Liam is his late son’s biological offspring. The application was brought pursuant to Order 8 Rules 1 & 8 of the Family Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) 2012, and Order 9 Rules 8 & 9 of the Magistrate Courts (Civil Procedure) Rules 2009. Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, did not oppose the application.
