Sevilla FC has confirmed the departure of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho after both parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent. Iheanacho, popularly known as “Senior Man,” joined Sevilla last summer but struggled to establish himself in the squad, managing only a handful of appearances (11) and scoring three goals.
He was sent on loan to Middlesbrough in the EFL championship during last winter’s transfer making 15 appearances and scoring once.
Iheanacho’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, allowing him to become a free agent.
He previously spent seven successful years with Leicester City, scoring over 61 goals across all competitions
Iheanacho rose to prominence at Manchester City representing the club between 2015 and 2017 winning the English football league cup in 2016.
At the national level he won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup with Nigeria U- 17 winning both the golden ball and silver boot at the tournament.
He then later won the FA Cup and FA community shield with Leicester City in 2021 getting relegated with them to the Championship in 2023 and getting promoted with them again a year later by winning the championship before being released.
What’s next for Iheanacho? Only time will tell.
