Fake Students Busted at Olivet College of Health Technology, Management Demands Investigation27 August 2025

Olivet College of Health Technology, Azuba, in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, says it has discovered more than eleven impostors masquerading as students of the institution and using forged documents to gain access to medical laboratory training centres across the state.

The proprietor, Dr. Abu Cletus, speaking at a press conference in Lafia on Wednesday, called for a full investigation into the matter. He urged the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services, the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria, and the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health to track down those behind the fraudulent scheme.

Dr. Cletus explained that the college uncovered the scam after learning that students from the Medical Laboratory Technology department were being redirected to another health college in Nasarawa Eggon. Further checks revealed that several people who were never enrolled at Olivet were participating in laboratory practicals with falsified paperwork.

“In one facility here in Lafia, four individuals presented a fake letterhead in our school’s name, complete with our department stamp, HOD’s signature and phone number, but the design was not ours and it omitted our official website,” he said. “In Akwanga, names of non-students were inserted into the posting list, and in Keffi, seven fake students were mixed in with ten of our genuine students, again using counterfeit documents.”

He added that the impostors claimed they belonged to a so-called Nasarawa Eggon branch of Olivet College — an institution that does not exist. He clarified that the college has only one campus in Azuba and does not operate any form of distance learning programme.

Dr. Cletus warned the public against dealing with anyone claiming to represent the school outside its main office. He confirmed that the case has been reported to the police, DSS, the Ministry of Health, the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria, and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists for appropriate action.
