INEC partners NURTW for ‘smooth conduct of Cross River LG election’

The Cross River Independent Electoral Commission, CROSIEC, has said it will partner the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, to ensure a successful local government election in the state.

The Chairman of CROSIEC, Dr Ekong Boco, made the statement in Calabar, when the executive members of NURTW, Cross River chapter, visited him.

Boco described the NURTW as a reliable ally in local government election management in the state.

“We appreciate your longstanding support, your services towards successful election management in the country are indispensable.

“Soon, we shall sit together with the union’s leadership to discuss and finetune the details of your involvement in the forthcoming council poll in the state,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of NURTW, Mr Victor Essien, the Assistant Secretary, said the visit was to further strengthen the union’s ties with the election body.

“Our union has always played prominent roles by providing logistic support during elections. Our interest is to ensure a successful process.

“We are very confident that by strengthening our partnership, the forthcoming local government election will be seamlessly delivered,” he said.

It will be recalled that CROSIEC had earlier announced that council elections in the state would be conducted before the end of December.
